MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team lost a close game on Wednesday evening to SUNY Morrisville 13-11.
Keuka College (1-9, 0-3 Empire 8) had two Wolves combine for eight points scored.
Brooke Bonetti (Seneca Falls, N.Y. / Mynderse Academy) scored four goals, and
Grace Morse (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman) added two goals and two assists.
SUNY Morrisville 13 vs. Keuka College 11
The Mustangs got out to a quick 2-0 lead to start the game, but the Wolves were ready to answer. With two minutes left in the first,
Grace Morse found the back of the net on a man-down play to give Keuka their first goal.
Just 44 seconds into the second quarter,
Tori Nelson (Vernon Center, N.Y. / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) passed to
Brooke Bonetti for another Keuka goal to tie the game. Morrisville scored to start the quarter again but one minute later,
Tori Nelson scored a Keuka goal after
Liz Spin collected the draw control. After two additional Mustang goals, the Wolves continued to keep the pressure on.
Maddie Fassinger (Camillus, N.Y. / West Genesee) forced a turnover and collected a ground ball to bring the ball down the field to earn another Keuka goal, this time from
Grace Morse, assisted by
Alyssa Chase (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman). The Green and Gold added two more goals from
Liz Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) and
Brooke Bonetti to tie the game 6-6 going into the break.
Morrisville scored a pair of goals in the third but again, the Wolves persisted. After
Meghan Johnson (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) picked up a ground ball,
Julia Bauder (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) found Bonetti for a goal. The Mustangs added two more goals to their lead, but
Julia Bauder scored for Keuka after
Jill McGinley (Syracuse, N.Y. / East Syracuse-Minoa) had forced a turnover to keep the game within two. Morrisville had the 10-8 lead going into the final quarter.
Jill McGinley had a free position attempt after a foul and scored on the shot to bring the game back within one point. Morrisville went on to add two goals to their lead, but
Brooke Bonetti scored her fourth goal of the game with 10:54 left to play. With five minutes left in the game,
Julia Bauder capitalized on a man-up opportunity to get within two goals. However, the remaining 4:59 went without a score from either team and SUNY Morrisville won the game 13-11.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will return to their home turf on Saturday with an Empire 8 matchup against Hartwick College. Saturday will also be Senior Day for the Wolves to celebrate the four rostered seniors.
