After a scoreless first inning, the Wolves struck first in the top of the second. Kyle Wood (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) worked the plate to draw a walk and proceeded to steal second. RJ Murphy (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee) was out at first on a fielder's choice but advanced Wood to third. Alex Evans (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) would be the one to bring Wood in for the score on a sacrifice fly to center field. Starting pitcher Greg Osterhout (Walden, N.Y. / Valley Central) struck out a pair of batters in the next half of an inning to keep Elmira off the scoreboard.

In the top of the third, Matt Vaccaro (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) rallied with a two-out double and scored on a single from Derek Novicki (North Haven, Conn. / North Haven) to go up 2-0. Keuka's defense maintained their composure and held Elmira scoreless in the bottom of the third.

To add to the lead, RJ Murphy tripled in the fourth inning and was brought home on a fielder's choice play that Ethan Drinon (Middleburgh, N.Y. / Schoharie) hit to the third baseman. The Soaring Eagles earned one run back in the fourth but the Wolves were ready to answer in the fifth. Ian Ruhmel (Horseheads, N.Y. / Horseheads) was the first Wolf on base after reaching on an error, and Matt Vaccaro moved him over to second with a sacrifice bunt. Novicki put the ball in the outfield, which brought Ruhmel home for the 4-0 lead but was then thrown out at second when trying to advance. With the bases empty, Carlos Fantauzzi (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) reached first after striking out but the ball got away from the catcher and Fantauzzi beat out the throw. Kyle Wood then hit his first home run of his Keuka College Baseball career for an additional two runs.

The Soaring Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, but the Keuka lead was too large to close and the Wolves went on to win 6-2.

Elmira College 6 vs. Keuka College 5

The game began in a pitching duel and went scoreless for the first three innings. Keuka starting pitcher Anthony Laurinitis (Philadelphia, Pa. / Father Judge) struck out four batters during those three innings. The Wolves got hot offensively in the top of the fourth and it started with Novicki reaching first base on a fielding error and was moved to second after Fantauzzi was walked. RJ Murphy continued his success as the plate and doubled and brought in both runners to go up 2-0.

Elmira College answered quickly, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth to even the score. Another two scoreless innings went by as Laurenitis struck out another three batters. In the bottom of the fifth, Elmira scored an additional three runs to go up 5-2.

Novicki started the eighth inning with a single and advanced to second on a batter being hit by a pitch. RJ Murphy hit an RBI single bringing Novicki home and chipping away at the Elmira lead. Ethan Tillotson was the Keuka pitcher at this time and struck out two batters to contribute to holding the Soaring Eagles to a scoreless bottom of the inning.

Pinch hitter Donald Nemeth (Guilderland, N.Y. / Guilderland) started the top of the ninth out strong with a single but was thrown out at second when batter Mike Dutch (Manlius, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) hit into a fielder's choice play. Matt Vaccaro then singled to put runners on first and second. Another Novicki single brought Dutch home and put Vaccaro on third. The Keuka success at the plate forced an Elmira pitching change, but that would not stop the Wolves. Carlos Fantauzzi drew a walk to load the bases and Kyle Wood was then hit by a pitch to give the Wolves the tying run.

After a hard-fought battle, Elmira loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth and hit a walk-off single to win the third game of the series 6-5.
