#5 Alfred University 80 at #4 Keuka College 60 – Empire 8 Tournament – First Round
After playing a game in the 40s on Saturday, it was a slow start again between the Wolves and Saxons. The Wolves scored the first five points, but Alfred took a 6-5 lead five minutes into the game. Keuka College later tied the game as Alijah Ellis found Jaden Keasey under the basket for a layup making it 9-9. Alfred regained the lead and led for the rest of the first half. Christian Sage a three to draw the game within three at 27-24 with seven minutes remaining, but Alfred scored the next eight points to force Keuka into a timeout trailing 35-24 with four minutes left in the half. The Wolves snapped the run, but Alfred remained ahead and extended their lead to 15, 43-28 at the half.

The two teams traded baskets early in the second half as Keuka attempted to cut into the deficit, but Alfred had a response each time the Wolves scored. A three by Christian Sage cut the margin to 14, 52-38, with 16:40 left in the game. However, that would be as close as the Wolves would make it in the second half. The Saxons led by as many as 25 and closed with an 80-60 victory over the Wolves.

KC Notes:
  • Alfred took the season rubber match against the Wolves after the two teams split in the regular season. Keuka is 8-20 all-time against the Saxons
