Penn State Behrend 88 vs. Keuka College 50

The Wolves started strong in the first quarter, shooting 50% from the field and keeping the game tight. Sydney Brown (Lowville, N.Y. / Lowville Academy) opened the scoring for Keuka with a three-pointer assisted by Mary Cotter to give the Wolves an early lead. Caiden Crego (Lyons, N.Y. / Lyons) added two layups that brought Keuka within one point. Mary Cotter contributed by hitting a jumper at the 6:22 mark and converting the free throw for a three-point play. She followed that up with another jumper just a minute later to extend the Wolves lead. Penn St Behrend pulled back ahead, but Janea Hamilton-Brown (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) capped the quarter with a buzzer-beater jumper to narrow the deficit to 24-22.

Keuka remained competitive in the second quarter, keeping pace with Penn State Behrend in the opening minutes. Sydney Brown connected on a three-pointer off a pass from Caiden Crego at the 7 minute mark to pull the Wolves within three. Brooke Burd broke up a scoring drought with a layup at 4:40, and then 3 baskets in the final 90 seconds saw the Wolves entering the half down 10 points, 34-44.

The second half was controlled by Penn State Behrend, who surged ahead with a strong third quarter. The Wolves struggled offensively, shooting just 15.4% in the third, with their only points coming from a layup by Brooke Burd and a three-pointer from Hamilton-Brown. Despite the tough stretch, Keuka showed resilience in the fourth quarter, with Brooke Burd making two more baskets inside and Ellen Lavonas (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) scoring inside after grabbing an offensive rebound. Janea Hamilton-Brown added a late three-pointer, but the Lions scoring and control of the boards proved insurmountable. The Wolves dropped the final game of the first semester, 88-50.
