KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Soccer team lost to Hartwick College 4-1 in an Empire 8 Conference game at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Hartwick College controlled the play in the first half with 70% of the possession. The Hawks struck first in the sixth minute off a corner and then doubled their lead in the 17th minute. The Wolves had a good chance in the 24th. A long throw by Liam Fitzpatrick bounced in the box and found the foot of Owen Thorpe. The graduate student settled the ball near the penalty spot and got a strong shot off. The Hawks keeper just got his outstretched arm on the shot to keep the Wolves off the board. However, that would be short-lived as Keuka pulled one back in the 31st minute. Patrick Mucha took a free kick for the Wolves that hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced down into the net to make it 2-1. The scoring was not done in the first half though. Seven minutes after that, a ball kicked up in the box and hit a Keuka defender in the arm resulting in a penalty kick. Cangemi got a good piece of the ball but the spin after his contact caused the ball to cross the line and give the Hawks a 3-1 lead.

The air was taken out of the ball in the second half as the visitors worked to see the game out. Hartwick scored midway through the half to make it 4-1. Keuka had four shots in the frame, but only one was on goal and it was stopped. Hartwick carried the 4-1 advantage to full-time to defeat the Wolves.

KC Notes:
  • Keuka College is now 0-2-2 all-time against Hartwick College
  • Both of Mucha's goals this season have come off of free kicks
  • With his four saves, Cory Cangemi moves into a tie for fifth on the career saves list at Keuka College
