Men’s Soccer Scores Five in the Rain for First Victory

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Soccer team shut out Wells College 5-0 in the rain at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex to earn their first victory of the season.

Keuka College (1-3) showcased balanced scoring with four different Wolves recording goals. Kaleb Glessing converted a penalty kick for his first career goal. Brenden Moquin, Griffin Herron, and Nico Leone all added goals for the Wolves.

Following a slow start to the game, the Wolves opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Nico Leone was taken down in the box resulting in a penalty kick for the Wolves. Kaleb Glessing stepped up to the spot for his first career penalty attempt. The sophomore stepped up and converted for the 1-0 lead. After getting his first career goal, Glessing nearly got his second as a free kick by Owen Thorpe found the head of Glessing but slid wide. Brenden Moquin scored his first career goal in the 35th minute and Griffin Herron followed just 24 seconds later to give the Wolves a 3-0 halftime lead.

Keuka College continued to play on the front foot. Thomas Stojanov set up Nico Leone for the tally as the Wolves extended their lead. A misplay by Wells in the 79th minute resulted in an own goal as Keuka College continued onto the 5-0 victory on Tuesday.

  • Keuka College won their sixth straight against Wells College. The Wolves lead the all-time series 13-3-2
  • Scoring has been a staple for the Wolves against Wells. They have scored at least two in 12 of the 18 matches against the Express and averaged over four goals per game during the six-game winning streak
  • Keuka College is 6-2-2 in their last 10 home openers
  • The assist by Stojanov was the sophomore's first career point
  • Glessing's penalty kick goal was the first PK goal for the Wolves since Suleman Sey converted from the spot against Elmira College in 2021
  • Cory Cangemi and Carson Smith split the game in goal for Keuka to combine for the shutout.
Up Next for Keuka College: Tuesday was the final tune-up for the Men's Soccer team before Empire 8 play begins. Keuka College will open its conference slate on Saturday, Sept. 16 hosting Houghton University. Kickoff between the Wolves and Highlanders is scheduled for 4 p.m. from the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
