PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team lost their Empire 8 Conference opener on Sunday afternoon, losing at St. John Fisher University 7-4.
Matt Vaccaro led the Keuka College (3-8, 0-1 Empire 8) offense with a pair of hits.
Spencer Brown pitched six innings for the Wolves with five strikeouts.
St. John Fisher University 7 vs. Keuka College 4
The Cardinals took the lead over the Wolves in the second inning with a run, then added two more in the third. A two-run home run by St. John Fisher gave them a 5-0 lead after five innings.
Keuka College got on the board in the sixth.
Matt Vaccaro singled and stole second. With two outs,
Nolan Quinn singled to score Vaccaro. The Wolves continued to capitalize with two outs. Later in the inning,
Josh Tryon hit an RBI single to score Quinn. A walk then loaded the bases and
Brady Booher worked a bases-loaded walk to make it 5-3.
The Wolves cut it to a one-run game in the seventh, again started with a Vaccaro single. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases with one out. Unfortunately for Keuka, a sacrifice fly by
Connor Springer was all Keuka could score as Fisher remained ahead 5-4.
The Cardinals added a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Wolves got a runner on in the eighth and ninth, but were unable to rally as Keuka College fell to St. John Fisher 7-4.
