Keuka College Women’s Lacrosse Downed by Russell Sage

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — In a game interrupted by nearly two hours of weather delays, the Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team lost on Saturday to Russell Sage College 21-5 in an Empire 8 Conference game.

Madeline Greene had a goal and two assists for Keuka College (1-8, 0-4 Empire 8). Alyssa Chase made 10 saves in goal for the Wolves.

The Gators scored first but the Wolves quickly answered as Madeline Greene found Brooke Bonetti for the goal. The lead would bounce back to Russell Sage, but then Grace Morse scored to tie the game back up. The game would remain tied, 2-2, after the first quarter.

Russell Sage netted three straight to open the second and build a 5-2 advantage over the Wolves. Madeline Greene ended the run with a goal, but the visitors responded with six unanswered. Katie Deatherage found the back of the net with 48 seconds left in the half, but the Gators led 11-4 at the break.

The Gators scored the first four goals of the second half to push their lead to 15-4 before a lightning delay paused the game with 7:01 left in the third. After play resumed, it was put into another delay two minutes later with 5:18 remaining in the third. This delay lasted one hour and nine minutes. Russell Sage would outscore Keuka 6-0 in the third and carry a 17-4 lead into the final quarter.

Russell Sage saw the game out with four goals in the fourth. Keuka College put one more goal on the board with Grace Morse getting the goal, but the Wolves would fall to the Gators 21-5 on Saturday.
