In the second-to-last week of the basketball season, freshman
Mary Cotter and graduate student
Lorenzo Bicknese were named the Wolves of the Week.
Mary Cotter - Women's Basketball - Hershey (PA) HS
Freshman
Mary Cotter had the best week of her collegiate career last week, playing in a trio of Empire 8 games. She opened with 10 points at Nazareth College on Tuesday. Cotter then hit three three-pointers and scored 11 points at Elmira on Friday night. The freshman concluded the week with four threes on her way to 14 points at Alfred University on Saturday.
Her 11 and 14-point performances were the most for Cotter since the calendar switched to 2023. For the week, she averaged three three-pointers a game, shooting .474 from deep.
Lorenzo Bicknese - Men's Basketball - Somers HS
Friday night was a big night for
Lorenzo Bicknese. Coming off of the bench, Bicknese hit eight three-pointers at Elmira College to tie the Keuka College single-game record. He tied the performance by Kyle Bower who made eight in a game over 30 years ago on November 18, 1990 against Utica Tech. It was the most threes scored in a game by any Empire 8 team this season.
The 24 points for Bicknese set a new career-high for the graduate student as well. He has now made 27 threes on the season, ranking third on the Wolves but setting a new personal high. He also has set a new personal high for points in a season.
