KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon to Oswego State 5-1 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

The two teams were even in the opening minutes. The Lakers had chances midway through the frame, but Nichols made a save and the Wolves cleared. Keuka had three shots themselves in the first, but the game remained scoreless after one.

The Wolves opened the scoring three minutes into the second quarter. Laine Rogers sent a ball from 30 yards from goal. It went through traffic and found the stick of Erin Patterson at the far post. She deflected it in to make it 1-0 Keuka. The lead would last only five minutes, however, as Oswego tied the game. The Wolves pressured late with a string of corners but were unable to push through as the game would be tied 1-1 at the half.

Keuka College pressed early in the third with three straight corners but was unable to capitalize. The play would switch to the other end of the field and Oswego took the lead midway through the quarter. They added to it with 1:29 left in the third to carry a 3-1 advantage into the final quarter.

The Lakers controlled play in the last, outshooting the Wolves 8-1. Oswego added to their lead with a pair of goals as they defeated the Wolves 5-1 on Tuesday.

KC Notes:
  • Keuka College is now 1-7 all-time against Oswego State. The Lakers are one of three non-conference teams that the Wolves have faced every year since Keuka has added field hockey. The other two teams will leave that list next year as SUNY Brockport and SUNY Geneseo join the Empire 8
  • With the goal, Erin Patterson now has 35 career points, moving to fourth on the career points list. Her six goals this season leads the Wolves
  • Keuka College had the edge in corners 9-7, but the Lakers led in shots 22-10
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves get right back to action tomorrow as they host another SUNYAC school. Keuka College will welcome SUNY Oneonta to the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
