Smith Keeps Game Scoreless against Medaille Mavericks

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Soccer game ended scoreless against the Medaille University Mavericks on Wednesday afternoon at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Carson Smith (Horseheads, NY/ Horseheads) recorded 12 saves, his career record in a single game. Owen Thorpe (Horseheads, NY/ Horseheads) and Zach Dann (Corning, NY/ Corning East) had three shots each.

The Wolves started with the momentum in their favor on Wednesday afternoon as they had two shots in the first five minutes of play. Both Liam Fitzpatrick and Zach Dann managed to get a shot off early, but both missed wide. Just three minutes later, a free kick from Connor Thorpe gave Zach Dann another shot, but it was blocked by the Maverick's defense. The Mavericks then took over on offense. Carson Smith tallied four saves in the first half and the game remained scoreless.
The Wolves came out strong in the second half as well. Less than a minute into the second half, Brenden Moquin took a shot for the Wolves, but it went high. As play continued, both teams saw opportunities, but neither team was able to capitalize. Carson Smith recorded eight more saves in the second half, totaling twelve throughout the whole game. The Wolves' defense held strong to keep the game scoreless until time ran out leaving the final score at 0-0.

  • This is the first time Keuka College has played Medaille University since they joined the Empire 8.
  • The last game played before this was in 2006.
  • Carson Smith recorded 12 saves; this is a single-game career record for Smith.
