Red Dragons Top Wolves 3-0

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost on the road on Wednesday at SUNY Oneonta 3-0 in a non-conference matchup.

Keuka College (1-8) got nine saves in goal by Jordan Nichols.

The Red Dragons controlled the play from the start, but Jordan Nichols had three early saves to keep the game scoreless. SUNY Oneonta would break through with two minutes left in the quarter to lead 1-0.

The second quarter followed the same script as the hosts kept the ball in the Keuka end. SUNY Oneonta had four shots on goal, but Nichols turned them all away. The game remained 1-0 at the half.

SUNY Oneonta doubled their lead in the third quarter. The Wolves followed the goal with a chance on a penalty corner, but Keuka was unable to connect the final pass for an attempt on goal. The Red Dragons carried a 2-0 lead into the final quarter.

Minutes into the fourth, SUNY Oneonta would add a goal. The Wolves kept fighting and closed the game hard. Keuka College had a pair of corners and three shots on goal in the final minute of the game but was unable to ruin the shutout as SUNY Oneonta defeated the Wolves 3-0 on Wednesday.

  • Nine saves for Nichols tied for her fourth-highest total of the season
  • Alicia Rush added a defensive save for the Wolves. She now has six on the year. That leads the Empire 8 and ties for the second-most in a season in team history. That also ties for the fifth-most in the NCAA this season
  • Tori Nelson had two shots on goal to lead the Keuka College offense
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves return to conference play on Saturday as Keuka College hosts Hartwick College. The Wolves and the Hawks will square off at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex at noon.
