Women’s Volleyball Splits Tri-Match at Pitt.-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball closed their 2022 season on the road, playing in a tri-match at Pitt.-Bradford.

Keuka College (9-16) won the opening match against La Roche in five sets, but the Wolves were swept by the host Panthers in the nightcap.

Keuka College 3 vs. La Roche University 2 – 25-21, 23-25, 25-27, 25-23, 15-11
The Wolves jumped out to an early lead over La Roche and led throughout. The Redhawks would cut the lead down to two late, but Cameron Knapp hit a kill to make it 21-18. Megan McCann finished the set with a kill to give the opener to the Wolves 25-21.

The second set was close between the Wolves and Redhawks. A kill by Sydney Haust tied the set at 23-23, but La Roche answered with the final two points to win the second and level the match.

La Roche would fend off a pair of set points for the Wolves and closed the third with a block to win the third 27-25.

The fourth set would be close. Both teams would hold leads in the frame. It would be tied 22-22, but Dayna Edholm would take over. The junior scored three of the final four points to give the Wolves a 25-23 set victory, forcing a fifth set.

The Green and Gold took the first four points of the final set. A block by Sydney Haust and Bryn Straub forced the change-over with Keuka leading 8-4. It would be the freshman Straub closing the match with a kill as Keuka won the fifth 15-11 to win the match 3-2.

Lead Wolf: Dayna Edholm continued her hot run of play over the final two weeks of the season. Edholm had a match-high 24 kills against the Redhawks. She added 21 digs for her sixth straight double-double.

University of Pittsburgh-Bradford 3 vs. Keuka College 0 – 25-22, 25-20, 25-14

Both teams traded leads early on in the first set, but it would be tied at 17-17. The Panthers took the lead from that point and did not look back as the hosts won the first set 25-22.

A big run by Pitt.-Bradford gave them the advantage in the second and they would go on to the 25-20 victory. The same story played out in the third as the Panthers went on a stretch to create separation to win the third set 25-14 to sweep the match.

Lead Wolf: Emma Sipos led the defensive efforts in the final match. Sipos led the Wolves with 17 digs against the Panthers.

  • Saturday was Keuka's first-ever match against La Roche University
  • The Wolves are 6-13 and have lost four straight against the Panthers
  • Keuka College set multiple match records against La Roche, finishing in the top ten for kills, attacks, assists, and digs. The 230 attacks for the Wolves were the most ever in a match in program history
  • Dayna Edholm was personally in the top ten for kills in a five-set match. The junior set the program record at Wells College last week
  • Casey Hunziker finished the season with 726 assists, the tenth-most in a season in program history and the most by a player in the last ten years
