The Saxons controlled the play for most of the first half. The visitors pulled ahead in the seventh minute and continued to press. Alfred had a 7-3 advantage in shots and had the only two corners in the half. The Green and Gold were able to tie the game before the halftime whistle.
Connor Thorpe battled for the ball on the end line to the left of the goal. He won the ball and sent it into the box. At the near post,
Griffin Herron was able to win position and volleyed it inside the left post to make it 1-1 at the break.
Both teams came out of halftime and fought for the ball in a physical second half. The game would flip in favor of the Saxons in the 63rd minute.
Carson Smith made a pair of stops 1v1 with the Saxon attacker but was deemed to have made contact with the player deliberately, resulting in a penalty kick. Smith guessed right and got a hand on the ball, but the pace carried it in inside the left post for the 2-1 lead. Keuka had a chance in the 75th minute.
Owen Thorpe busted between Saxon defenders and in on goal. His left-footed shot would curl just away from the far post and out for a goal kick. That proved to be the best chance for the Wolves as Alfred played the game out to defeat Keuka College 2-1 on Saturday.
