ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Soccer team go their first Empire 8 win of the season, topping Nazareth College 1-0 on the road on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.
The star of the game for Keuka College (2-8-2, 1-4-2 Empire 8) was freshman goalkeeper
Carson Smith. He set a new career high with 15 saves for the shutout.
Thomas Callery scored for the Wolves with
Brenden Moquin getting the assist.

The Golden Flyers controlled the play from the start with
Carson Smith needing to make a save 31 seconds into the game. The best chance for Nazareth came in the 29th minute. Off of a corner kick, a header was bound for the goal but went off the hand of Griffon Herron. He was given a red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity by handling and was sent off. Also, as a result, a penalty kick was awarded to Nazareth. The leading scorer for the hosts stepped up for the chance, but
Carson Smith was there to turn it aside. Now playing a man down, Keuka was able to flip the field and get a corner kick.
Brenden Moquin sent the ball in and found the head of
Thomas Callery for the goal and a 1-0 lead.
The pressure would increase against the 10-man Wolves side in the second half. Nazareth College would put up 20 total shots, 12 of which were on goal.
Carson Smith would tie his career high in the second half alone as he stopped all 12 shots that were on goal. Smith and the Wolves would preserve the shutout, defeating Nazareth College 1-0 on Wednesday.

Keuka College will face Utica University, one of the top teams in the conference, at home at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday. It will be an afternoon kickoff at 1 p.m. between the Wolves and the Pioneers.
