Wolves Lose In 5 Sets to Wells College

AURORA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Volleyball Team (7-14, 3-4 E8) lost to Wells College (11-10, 1-3 UE) in a non-conference match up on Tuesday night.
Dayna Edholm (Buffalo, N.Y./ Sweet Home) recorded 27 kills and 26 digs in the match. Casey Hunziker (Rome, N.Y./ Rome Free Academy) had 54 assists in the game.
Keuka College 2 at Wells College 3:
The Express took the lead first on Tuesday jumping up 11-3.  A kill from Dayna Edholm ended the six-point run lead from the Express. From there, the Wolves started their comeback scoring 15 points while the Express only scored four points in that time. Another kill from Edholm brought the game to an even 21-21. The game went back and forth until the final kill from the Express gave them the 30-28 win over the Wolves.
The second set remained even for most of the game. The Wolves produced 13 kills, but the Express trailed closely producing 11 kills of their own.  The final kill from Casey Hunziker put the Wolves up 25-20 to win the second set.
The Wolves started the third set with a five-run lead putting them up 5-3 over the Express. The Express came right back jumping up to a 20-14 lead. The Wolves fought to come back, but the Express registered 18 kills in the match making it too difficult to come back. The Wolves put together 12 kills with only three errors, but it was not enough and the Express took the third set 25-23.
Again, the fourth set started even between both teams. The game was tied 7-7 when a kill from Casey Hunziker gave the Wolves the lead. From that point on, the Wolves held the lead for the rest of the set. Kills from Dayna Edholm, Bryn Straub (Irondequoit, N.Y./ Irondequoit), Megan McCann (Victor, N.Y./ Victor), and Sarah Paradiso (Fort Plain, N.Y./ Fort Plain) all led to a 25-22 win for the Wolves forcing a fifth set.
The Express took the lead again in the fifth set going up 3-2. The Express continued to lead but the Wolves kept the score close. Both the Wolves and the Express had seven kills each in the set, but the Express would hold the lead winning 15-11 and winning the match 3-2.

  • Dayna Edholm reached a personal best with 27 kills in a single game.
  • Casey Hunziker also reached a personal best with 54 assists in a single game.
  • The Wolves recorded the highest number of team attacks in a 5-set match with 211.
  • The team also tied for fifth in school history with 115 digs as a team in a 5-set match.
