Hill Records Double-Double in Wolves Loss

Box Score

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Keuka College junior Lauren Hill recorded her first career double-double, but the Wolves lost to Medaille College 70-58 in the consolation game of the Brockport Tip-off Tournament.

Hill scored 12 points and collected a game-high 13 rebounds for Keuka College (0-3). The Wolves were led in scoring by senior Amelia Poole who finished with 15 points on the afternoon.

Medaille College 70 vs. Keuka College 58

A slow start to the game, Medaille carried a 2-1 lead until Amelia Poole knocked down a three for the Wolves 2:30 into the contest. Play would pick up but the Mavericks would lead for most of the quarter and they held a 16-11 advantage after one.

The Wolves would be held without a basket for the first four minutes of the second half as Medaille College grew their lead to double figures. Meaghan McGwin snapped the slide with a jumper to make it 24-13. McGwin then created a turnover, got a steal, and was fouled. Keuka College further chipped into the Maverick lead. A three by Killian Mahoney cut the margin to six, 29-23, with 4:27 left in the half. Once again, Medaille College answered the Keuka rally as the Mavericks reestablished their double-digit lead and led 41-30 at the half.

The Mavericks maintained their distance in the third quarter. Killian Mahoney set up Sydney Brown for a three in the final seconds to cut the margin to 10. The Wolves outscored the Mavericks in the quarter, but Medaille remained ahead 54-44 going into the fourth.

Keuka College cut the lead to single-digits with 7:20 to go as Isabella Colon hit a three. The Wolves would get the margin down to eight following a Mahoney three with three minutes left, but that would be as close as the Wolves would make it as Keuka College fell to Medaille College 70-58.

KC Notes:

  • Keuka College is now 17-3 all-time against Medaille. It was the Mavericks first win over the Wolves since the 2008-09 season
  • Lauren Hill's double-double was the first for the Wolves since Sydney Bloom had 20 points and 10 rebounds against Alfred University last March
  • Keuka College attempted 47 threes on the afternoon, setting a new program record
  • The Wolves collected 57 rebounds, holding a +6 margin over the Mavericks

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will close the fall semester with a five-game homestand. The stretch gets started this week as Keuka College hosts SUNY Geneseo in their home opener at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. Tipoff is set for 7pm on Tuesday.
