Cazenovia played a physical game and held the advantage early in the first half. They were unable to find the goal, however, on their early attempts. In total, the Wildcats had a 7-3 advantage in shots, but both keepers were only called upon for one save. Possession was an even 50/50 split in the opening 45 as the game went to halftime scoreless.
The Wolves increased the pressure and took the play to Cazenovia in the second half. An effort by Suleman Sey in the 55th went off the left post. The Wolves thought they took the lead in the 61st minute as a Thomas Callery shot from the right was saved, but Sey was there to hit in the rebound. However, the assistant referee determined Sey was playing from an offside position, and the goal was disallowed. The Wolves outshot the Wildcats 12-5 in the second with Cazenovia's keeper making seven saves. The game would go to overtime scoreless.
The Green and Gold had the lone shot in the first overtime session. Ryan Malley's headed attempt was saved as the game would continue to double overtime.
The Wolves continued to pressure in the second extra frame. The Green and Gold had four shots, three on goal, but again, all were saved and the game would end with a scoreless draw.
