Keuka College Blanked by Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Soccer team was shutout by hosts Buffalo State on Saturday night in the Fred Hartrick Classic.

Keuka College (0-2, 0-0 NEAC) struggled to put pressure on the Bengal net. In goal for Keuka was Christopher Spaulding who made three saves in the contest.

In the first half, Buffalo State outshot Keuka 11-1 as the Bengals controlled the play. Only two of the 11 shots for Buffalo State were on goal, but Christopher Spaulding saved them both as the game went into halftime scoreless.

Buffalo State was able to break through in the second half. They scored 10 minutes into the half to take a 1-0 lead. The Bengals held from there, not allowing  shot from Keuka on their way to the 1-0 victory.

KC Notes:

  • Saturday was the first meeting between the two schools since 2001. Despite the loss, Keuka still leads the all-time series with Buffalo state 4-2
  • Keuka's one shot in the game was the fewest by the Wolves in the past five seasons
  • Goalkeeper Christopher Spaulding and midfielder Humberto Flores were named to the All-Tournament Team

Coming up for Keuka College: Thursday will be the home opener for Keuka College as they host the Rochester Institute of Technology at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex at 7pm. Keuka has never beaten RIT, last facing the Tigers in the 2008 season.
