Wolves Tame Broncos 77-55

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball team defeated SUNY Delhi on Wednesday 77-55 in a non-conference game at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.

Keuka College (7-7, 4-5 NEAC) returns to North Eastern Athletic Conference games this weekend. The Wolves will host Lancaster Bible College on Saturday and Penn St.-Berks on Sunday.

Senior Courtney Boyea tied her career-high with 16 points to lead the Wolves. Freshman Sam Laranjo continued her strong play with 15 points, seven assists, and six steals. Also in double-figures for the Wolves was Lauren Anten with 14 points and Katie Stuart with 13 points in the win.

Keuka College got out to an early lead over SUNY Delhi on Wednesday night. The Wolves led 8-2 just over three minutes into the game. Following a steal by Laranjo, Courtney Boyea laid the ball in on the fast break to give Keuka a 12-5 lead. The Broncos tightened the margin late, but Keuka led 18-15 after the first quarter.

A quick 6-0 run in the opening minute had Keuka's lead nearing double-digits. Sam Laranjo would later convert a layup, with the assist from Tiffany Binion to give Keuka College a 26-16 advantage. Overall in the game, Binion had three assists, as well as six points, four rebounds, and four blocks for Keuka. SUNY Delhi responded with a 7-0 run to remain in the game. They later would narrow the gap to four, 32-28, but Keuka got a pair of free throws to go into halftime with a 34-28 lead.

Keuka College would pull away from SUNY Delhi in the third quarter. A 9-0 run by the Wolves gave Keuka a 52-33 lead. Overall, Keuka College shot 75%, 12-16, from the floor in the third quarter. Niki Templeton pushed the lead to 20 with a layup at the buzzer as Keuka led 64-44 after three quarters of play.

With the game in hand, Keuka College was able to control the ball and play out the remaining time in the quarter. The Wolves outscored the Broncos 13-11 in the frame on their way to the 77-55 non-conference victory.
