Men's Volleyball Falls at Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Volleyball lost to host Wells College in four sets on Wednesday evening in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup.

Keuka College (9-7, 4-4 NEAC) will take to the road this weekend for three North Eastern Athletic Conference matches. The Green and Gold will face Hilbert and D'Youville on Saturday. They will then take on conference leading Medaille College on Sunday. All games will be played at SUNY Poly in Marcy, N.Y.

Connor Hinman had a double-double for Keuka. He finished with a team-high 16 kills and added 14 digs. Tom Campbell and Connor Gail each finished with eight kills and Jared Kucko added seven kills. Cooper Lyon had a team-high 20 digs and Spencer Avery had 21 assists for Keuka.

The Express got out to an early lead in the first set against Keuka College. They would lead by as many as eight points, 15-7. A kill by Aaron Brill broke a five point run. Down 18-11, Keuka got a point off a service error to get the serve. With Josh Makin service, Keuka went on a 6-0 run to make it a one-point set, 18-17. The set would come down to the final points, but the Express would get a block to win the first set 26-24. 

Wells College would control the second set. They had 13 kills in the frame. The Green and Gold struggled attacking and had nine errors. The Express took the second set 25-16.

The Green and Gold would come out in the third looking to extend the match. They held an 11-10 lead over Wells, but the Express tallied five straight points to take a lead. The Green and Gold would work it back to a one-point game, 18-17. A kill by Hinman made the score 20-19 in Wells' favor. Keuka continued to battle. Jared Kucko had the kill to tie the third set at 23-23. Campbell and Hinman followed with kills to take the set 25-23.

Wells College got out to a fast 8-3 lead in the fourth set. The Green and Gold responded, narrowing it to a two-point game, 9-7, but the Express slowly grew their lead out. Wells would hold a 21-14 lead in the set. Keuka went on a five point run to make it 21-19 and force Wells into a timeout. The Express responded forcing match point at 24-20. A kill by Campbell and two by Kucko extended the set, but Wells got a kill to end the set 25-23, winning the set 3-1.
