Brown Hits 7 Threes in Keuka College's Victory over Cobleskill

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Freshman Sam Brown tied the school record with seven three pointers in a game as Keuka College defeated SUNY Cobleskill 69-65 in men's basketball on Saturday.

Saturday's game concludes the 2015-16 for Keuka College. They finished the campaign with a 9-14 record and went 6-11 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Brown added another basket in the game to finish with a career-high 23 points. He went 7-11 from three point territory. That ties Brian Pelkey and Raquan Banks for the record. Casey Williams ended his Keuka career with a double-double. He scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The senior finished his career with 1,142 points, ranking him sixth all-time. Cliff Stevens added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the win.

SUNY Cobleskill got out ahead of Keuka early. A three pointer eight minutes into the game gave the Fighting Tigers an 18-9 advantage. Keuka responded with the long ball. Cliff Stevens hit a three and off a steal, Sam Brown knocked one down. SUNY Cobleskill had an answer of their own, however as they grew the lead to 10 points, 25-15. They would lead by as many as 12 in the half. Casey Williams closed the margin with a three point play with five seconds left, but SUNY Cobleskill carried a 40-32 lead into halftime.

The Green and Gold came out in the second half and opening on a 9-2 run to make it 42-41 with 15 minutes left to play. After a basket by the Fighting Tigers, Sam Brown drew the game level with a three pointer to tie the game. Cobleskill answered with a layup, but it was Brown once again with the hot hand. The freshman drained a three to give Keuka a 47-46 lead with nine minutes left in the game. The Fighting Tigers would take the lead back, but Keuka never backed down. With six minutes left to play, Sam Brown hit his record tying three pointer to draw the game level at 55-55. With the game tied at 59-59, Brown made a layup with just under four minutes left to play to give Keuka the lead. After the game was tied again, Casey Williams put the Green and Gold ahead 66-64. The senior went 3-4 from the line in the final seconds to seal the 69-65 victory for Keuka College.
