Box Score KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Basketball was defeated by Well College 74-65 on Wednesday evening in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka College (7-12, 4-9 NEAC) will next be on the road as they take on the Wildcats from Penn College on Sunday.
Casey Williams led Keuka in both scoring and rebounding. The senior finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. He now stands in a tie for 8th place on the all-time list with 1078 career points. Freshman Devin Cooper was the only other player in double-figures for Keuka, scoring a career-high 12 points. Dylan Doupe added eight points and seven rebounds in the loss.
Wells was out and running on Wednesday and posted an early 8-0 lead. The Express grew it to a nine point margin, 15-6, but back to back three pointers by Sam Brown cut into the lead. With seven minutes left in the first, a three by Wells made it a double-digit game, 25-14. They would lead by as many as 14 in the half. Keuka went on a quick 7-0 run over a minutes time and Casey Williams and Devin Cooper each had four points in the closing minutes to make it a 36-31 game with Wells holding the advantage at halftime.
The Green and Gold came out firing in the second. A layup by Trevor Powell got the action going. That was followed up by a pair of jumpers by Williams and Keuka took their first lead of the game, 37-36. It was a part of a 9-0 run to start the half for Keuka. They would push the lead up to five points multiple times, but the Express did not go away. A 6-0 run of their own took the lead back, 50-49 with 9:32 left to play. The lead would bounce back and forth. Dylan Doupe hit a jumper with 5:17 left to tie the game at 56-56. Wells responded with an 8-2 run to regain the lead and they would not look back. Keuka was able to narrow the lead to four points multiple times, but they would never get in any close as Wells would defeat Keuka 74-65.
