Box Score KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Men's Basketball team fell at home on Tuesday to Alfred University 70-58.
Keuka (1-3) will return to action on Wednesday, December 2 as they host North Eastern Athletic Conference foe Cazenoiva at 6pm.
Casey Williams led Keuka with 16 points. He also added eight rebounds in the game. Greg Tyler was the only other player in double-digits with 11 points. Miles Boyer led the team with nine rebounds.
Keuka was aggressive on the boards, holding a +14 rebounding advantage over the Saxons. They were only able to turn the 21 offensive rebounds into 15 second chance points, however. Although Keuka had the rebounding advantage, Alfred was able to outscore Keuka in the paint 34-24.
Alfred was able to get the early lead on Keuka, but a Devin Cooper layup gave Keuka the lead back. The game would swing back in favor of the Saxons. Overall in the first half, there were five lead changes and the game grew level four times. With the game tied at 20-20 with five minutes left to play, Keuka went on a modest 8-3 run to lead 28-23, the largest lead of the first half by either team. Alfred would close with four straight points, however, to narrow the margin to one 28-27 going into halftime.
Keuka added to theirlead early on, but an 8-0 run by Alfred gave them a 37-32 lead with 16:37 left to play. They would not relinquish the lead the rest of the half. Keuka was able to draw the game within a point at 46-45 following a Casey Williams free throw with 7:35 left to play, but the Saxons answered with a quick five points. Keuka would be unable to get the game any closer, as Alfred would continue onto the 70-58 victory.
