Box Score Senior Austin Gerber (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) and junior Ben Schreiber (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) each scored second-half goals, but the Keuka College men's soccer team couldn't rally from a 3-0 deficit and fell to Morrisville State 4-2 Wednesday evening in Morrisville, N.Y.
Junior Preston Vick (Kendall, N.Y./Kendall) had three saves in the loss.
Keuka College (5-2-1, 2-1-1 NEAC) surrendered goals in the 11th and 13th minutes, and trailed 3-0 after Joe Sheehan scored on a high shot into the upper right corner in the 59th minute.
That's when Keuka attack got on track.
After receiving a through ball from junior Matt Hey (Rushville, N.Y./Marcus Whitman), Gerber scored his team-leading ninth goal after he dribbled past the defense and scored on a breakaway in the 59th minute to trim the deficit to 3-1.
Less than three minutes later, Gerber played a through ball in for Schreiber, who ripped home a 20-yard breakaway shot that sailed into the lower left corner of the goal to make it a one-goal game.
The Mustangs (7-2, 4-1) limited the Green and Gold's scoring chances down the stretch, and tacked on an insurance goal when Sheehan completed his hat trick with a tally in the 83rd minute.
Morrisville State kept Keuka off the scoreboard for the rest of the game to earn the win.
The Green and Gold were outshot 14-4 in the setback, their first NEAC loss of the year.
The Green and Gold host NEAC rival SUNY Cobleskill at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
