Junior Tyler Hixson (Shortsville, NY/Red Jacket) scored 20 points with eight rebounds while sophomore Vinney Zambito (Elba, NY/Batavia Notre Dame) added 17 points with eight rebounds to power the Keuka College men's basketball team to a 68-56 win at Wells College Saturday in Aurora, N.Y.

Hixson shot 50 percent from the floor (8 of 16) and snared seven offensive while Zambito grabbed seven defensive rebounds for Keuka (7-16, 5-13 NEAC), which outrebounded the Express 40-37, including 13-10 on the offensive glass.

Junior Jared Wagner (Pittsford, NY/McQuaid) added 13 points with seven rebounds in the win, Keuka's first over the Express since a 61-60 home triumph Feb. 10, 2009, and first-ever win at Wells.

The Storm took a 31-29 halftime lead as Hixson scored 13 points, Zambito had six points and Wagner scored five points in the opening half.

Hixson hit a pair of layups and Zambito knocked down a '3' to extend Keuka's lead to 38-33 with 16:18 remaining before the Express (8-17, 7-11) scored five straight points to pull even with 15:05 remaining.

Sophomore Miles Boyer (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) and Hixson each hit layups and Wagner hit a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 44-38. Starks then knocked down a '3' to push the lead to 47-39, but Wells hung around and trailed 51-46 after Shakeel Simmons hit a '3' with 7:18 remaining.

But Wagner scored six straight points and Zambito hit a '3' to stake the Storm to a 60-50 lead with 3:22 to play.

Zambito hit four free throws while sophomore Casey Williams (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) added a pair of free throws to clinch the win for the Storm.

Wells was led by Jonathan Hurtado (13 points) and Simmons (10 points).
