Men's Volleyball Sweeps Wells

The Keuka College men's volleyball team picked up its second straight win over Wells College Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Express inside the Farenthold Gymnasium in Aurora, N.Y.

Freshman Tom Campbell (Penfield, NY/Penfield) recorded a career-high with 11 kills and added 3 blocks and 3 digs while junior Devin Lesch (San Diego, CA/El Cajon Valley) added seven kills and six blocks as the Storm (7-16) picked up their third sweep of the season.

Freshman Christopher Mooring (Chesapeake, VA/Hickory) added 5 kills, 3 digs and 2 blocks and  sophomore Manny Fernandez (Tacoma, WA/Spanaway) added 8 digs, 4 kills and 3 blocks for Keuka, which won by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-18.

Freshman Josh Makin (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) had seven digs, classmate Connor Hinman (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) had eight digs and sophomore Ryan Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) added 31 assists and 7 digs for the Green and Gold.

As a team, the Storm hit .207 with 34 kills and 15 errors in 92 attempts. Campbell led the way with only two errors in 19 attempts (.474 attack percentage) while Lesch had two errors in 16 attempts (.312 percentage) to lead the Green and Gold.

John Farruggia had nine kills and six digs, J.J. Podczasy added five kills and five digs and C.J. Bayly and Tyler Wiley each had 11 digs for Wells (8-17).

Keuka is off until the weekend, when it heads to SUNYIT for the second of two NEAC crossover competitions, April 6. The Storm will face Gallaudet University at 4 p.m. and Cazenovia at 6 p.m. before closing out the regular-season against Southern Vermont and Regis College on April 7.
