Box Score 4 The Keuka College men's volleyball team won both of its matches Friday at the Bard College Invitational, but the Storm suffered a pair of losses on Saturday to finish the two-day tournament with a 2-2 record.
Keuka swept Berkeley College in three sets and defeated Mt. St. Vincent in four sets on Friday, then was swept by Sage Colleges and fell in five sets to host Bard on Saturday.
Keuka defeated Berkeley 25-13, 25-13 and 25-21 and Mt. St. Vincent 21-25, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-11 on Friday night.
Freshman Connor Hinman (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) recorded four kills with no errors in six attempts (.667 attack percentage) while junior Devin Lesch (San Diego, Ca./El Cajon Valley) and freshman Tom Campbell (Penfield, NY/Penfield) each added three kills versus Berkeley.
Freshman Christopher Mooring (Chesapeake, VA/Hickory) added eight digs and three aces while classmate Josh Makin (Lethbridge, Alberta/Catholic Central) added 6 digs, 3 aces and 3 total blocks for Keuka.
Campbell added five total blocks in the win for the Storm.
Facing Mt. St. Vincent, sophomore Manny Fernandez (Tacoma, WA/Spanaway) recorded 15 kills with 7 digs and four blocks, Campbell added 8 kills, 16 digs, 7 blocks and 3 aces and Hinman added 25 assists, 9 digs, 6 kills and 3 blocks for the Green and Gold.
Lesch added five kills with no errors in eight attempts (.625 percentage) and Makin added 10 digs, 4 kills and 4 blocks for the Storm.
On Saturday, Keuka fell to Sage, 25-12, 25-13 and 25-13, and to Bard, 21-25, 26-24, 25-20, 18-25 and 15-10.
Makin had four kills and three digs and Campbell added three kills and three blocks in the loss to Sage.
Against Bard, Fernandez compiled 10 kills with two errors on 28 attempts (.286 percentage), Hinman added nine kills and 12 digs and Lesch had seven kills with no errors on 17 attempts (.412 percentage) and added 22 assists in the loss.
Campbell, Mooring and Makin each chipped in with eight kills while Makin added 19 digs and five blocks, Mooring had 17 digs and two blocks and Campbell had 12 digs and four blocks.
Sophomore Ryan Kelly (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) contributed 24 assists and six digs in the five-set loss to Bard.
Lesch earned a spot on the all-tournament team for Keuka.
Keuka hits the road to play Lancaster Bible College and SUNYIT Saturday afternoon in a NEAC crossover competition.
