Box Score Senior Nate Smith (Hilton, NY/Hilton) scored his team-leading 10th goal of the year, but the Keuka College men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to first-place Morrisville State on Tuesday afternoon in Morrisville, NY.
Smith scored off a feed from classmate Reis Cunningham (Red Creek, NY/Red Creek) in the 59th minute to slice the deficit to 3-1, but Sanley Pierre-Louis scored his second goal of the game in the 89th minute to lift the Mustangs (13-4-1, 8-1-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference) past the Storm (7-7, 5-4 NEAC).
With only one NEAC contest remaining, against SUNYIT at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, the Storm sits in sixth place in the conference. The top five schools advance into the postseason tournament, which starts Oct. 31 and runs through Nov. 4.
Saturday's regular-season finale vs. SUNYIT (5-3-1) is an elimination game for the Storm. If Keuka can knock off SUNYIT on Saturday, the Green and Gold will clinch a spot in the NEAC tournament. If the Storm loses at SUNYIT, Keuka is eliminated from the postseason.
Freshman Preston Vick (Kendall, NY/Kendall) made three saves in the loss. Keuka was outshot 10-1 in the first half, and 18-9 for the game
