KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — After a record-setting day on Saturday, Keuka College sophomore
Anthony Laurinitis was named the Empire 8 Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Against Medaille University, Laurinitis retired 15 Mavericks via the strikeout to set a new Keuka College single-game record. The sophomore earned the win on the mound going eight innings, allowing just six hits and one run. He got stronger as the game went on, striking out three in both the seventh and the eighth inning.
Not only did Laurinitis set the single-game mark on Saturday, but he also passed the single-season record at Keuka College. He now sits with 60 strikeouts with a week left in the season.
Laurinitis ranks second in total strikeouts but leads the Empire 8 in strikeouts per game. Overall, he is averaging 13.61 strikeouts per nine innings, sixth-best across all of Division III.
The Wolves have four more games left in their season, all scheduled to be played at home. Keuka College will conclude its series with Medaille on Thursday at 3 p.m. The Wolves will then open a three-game Empire 8 series with Elmira College on Saturday and Sunday.
