Keuka College Falls to William Smith on the Hardwood

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost on Monday to local foe William Smith College by the score of 70-45 at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Monday night.

Riley Record continued her strong run of play for Keuka College (4-4) with a team-high 17 points. Sam Laranjo added 15 points for the Wolves.

The Wolves came out fast against the Herons as Keuka held William Smith off the board for nearly six minutes while building a 7-0 lead. William Smith responded to tie the game at 9-9. The teams each traded a basket as the game was tied 11-11 after the first.

The game swung in the second quarter. William Smith shot over 50% from the floor. They took the lead from the Wolves and went on an 11-point run to build a 29-17 advantage. In total, William Smith outscored Keuka 25-9 in the second to build a 36-20 halftime lead.

The Green and Gold looked to stay in the game as Riley Record hit threes on back-to-back possessions. However, the Herons continued to extend their margin. Sam Laranjo made a layup at the buzzer for the Wolves but William Smith carried a 51-31 lead into the final quarter.

The Herons would see the game out, outscoring Keuka 19-14 in the fourth on their way to the 70-45 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: Keuka College takes to the road this weekend for a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference games. The Wolves will face the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College on Saturday. Keuka will then travel to Washington D.C. to face Gallaudet University on Sunday.
