Keuka College 5 vs. William Paterson University 4 - OT

The Green and Gold controlled possession early on Saturday, working the ball down the wings against the Pioneers. Keuka College struggled to make the final pass that created the scoring opportunity. William Paterson worked on the counter and was able to net the first goal in the 26th minute on a header at the far post. The Green and Gold continued to control possession and threaten. McKenzie Erne found herself open in the box at the end of a cross, but her volley was saved by the William Paterson keeper. In the 36th minute, the Wolves drew level as Emily McGuigan got behind the Pioneer defense and scored on a breakaway, tying the game at 1-1. The Wolves nearly took the lead as Morgan Fuller got open on the left side of the box. Her first shot was saved in impressive fashion by the Pioneer keeper. Fuller was able to collect the rebound, but that was saved as well as the game went to halftime tied.

The Wolves would take the lead early in the second half. Emily McGuigan let a shot go in the 53rd minute. The ball was saved but crept past the keeper. Kelsey Maurer was waiting on the goal line for the tap-in goal for the 2-1 lead. The Pioneers responded with a goal off of a corner kick to tie the game in the 79th minute. Minutes later, William Paterson took the lead and then extended the lead a minute after that, making it 4-2. In the 85th minute, Emily McGuigan drew a foul and converted her first career penalty kick to make it a one-goal game. Less than two minutes after that, Jessica Pegg let a punt go from her goal box. The ball bounced and McGuigan ran onto the end of it, past the defense, and bounced the ball off the post and in to tie the game at 4-4 with 3:24 left in regulation. The game would go to overtime tied 4-4.

Both teams had chances in the first overtime period. Pegg made a nice diving save in the frame. As possession switched to the other end, McGuigan got behind the defense, but lost a foot race with the Pioneer keeper. As time wound down, Julia Oglesby won the ball and got it past the keeper, finding Maurer. The sophomore tapped it home with eight seconds left to give Keuka College a 5-4 overtime victory.
