Sophomore Jordan Fredell (Wurtsboro, N.Y./Monticello) scored a goal and freshman Kenna Kosinski (Mumford, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford) stopped a career-high 11 shots, but the Keuka College women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Penn State-Abington Saturday afternoon at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

After a scoreless first half, the Wolfpack (8-4-1, 8-2 NEAC) saw their scoreless streak of 569 minutes come to a close in the second half.

Kayla Nolan and Jennifer Cifuentes each scored goals in a span of 4:39 early in the second half for the Nittany Lions (9-4, 8-1 NEAC), who moved into a tie with Keuka for first place in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).

Trailing 2-0, junior Hannah Dalle (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) played a ball to Fredell inside the 10-yard line. Fredell turned, beat her defender and sent a shot into a wide-open portion of the goal in the 57th minute to trim the deficit to one.

But after a foul was called on the Green and Gold inside the 18-yard line, a penalty shot was awarded and Nolan buried the kick to the far post in the 69th minute.

Kosinski made a diving save to her right to deny Nolan her third goal of the game with 14:34 remaining in regulation.

The Wolfpack nearly had a second goal with 3:07 to play. Freshman Nicole Browe (Kendall, N.Y./Kendall) blasted a shot that struck off the crossbar, bounced down in front of the goal line and came out to sophomore Carly Sanford (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon).

Sanford's rebound effort sailed wide of the net, and the Wolfpack were unable to slice into the Nittany Lions' advantage.

Abington enjoyed a 23-15 edge in shots, including 16-8 in the second half.

Keuka hosts Alfred State at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon as part of the inaugural Green & Gold weekend. The Wolfpack close the season with three home games before the NEAC postseason tournament.
