KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The 2019 edition of the Keuka College Women's Volleyball team debuted on Friday night as the Wolves hosted the Keuka College Invitational.
Keuka College (1-1) won their opening match of the evening, sweeping Hilbert College 3-0, but lost in straight sets to Union College to close the night.
Keuka College 3 vs. Hilbert College 0 – 25-14, 26-24, 25-10
The Green and Gold took an early lead and pushed out to a 12-6 lead. Keuka College would post 12 kills in the frame just four errors as they took the first set 25-14.
Hilbert responded in the second set and pushed the Wolves. The set would go beyond the 25 points, but Keuka pulled it out in the end 26-24 to take a 2-0 lead in the set.
The Wolves closed it out in the third with solid defense. Keuka allowed only one Hilbert kill in the set. Offensively for Keuka, they hit 11 kills as the Wolves won the third 25-10, sweeping the match.
Lead Wolf: Grace Allen led the way offensively for Keuka College with 12 kills against the Hawks. She was efficient as well with just three errors, posting a .391 hitting percentage.
Union College 3 at Keuka College 0 – 27-25, 25-21, 25-12
The Dutchwomen would pull out a tightly played first set late in the set. Overall in the first, there score would be tied 11 times and there were three lead changes. In the end, Union pulled it out 27-25 for the early lead in the match.
Keuka College jumped out to an early lead in the second set, but Union would rally to take the advantage back. The Wolves had their best offensive set of the match with 12 kills, but the Dutchwomen bested them with their best set as well. Union hit 15 kills as they took the second 25-21.
Union College would close it out in the third set, defeating the Wolves 25-12 to sweep the match.
Lead Wolf: Junior Brooke Buck led the defensive efforts for the Green and Gold. The libero set a new career-high with 14 digs in the match.
- Keuka College extends their winning streak over Hilbert College to five games. Overall, Keuka has a 28-3 record against the Hawks, dating back to 1979
- The Wolves fall to 2-6 against Union College. The Dutchwomen have won the last six meetings. Keuka College last defeated Union in 1998
- Camryn Marcus tied her career-high with 17 assists against Hilbert College. Fellow setter Delaney Yorks added 13 assists against the Hawks, setting a new career-high
- Marcus also added a career-best and team-leading nine digs against Hilbert College
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will conclude the Keuka College Invitational with a pair of matches on Saturday. Keuka College opens the day with Rowan University at 10am. The Wolves will then close the Invitational with a 2pm match against Lasell University at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
