Wolves Fall in Four to Nazareth

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team lost on Tuesday night to Nazareth College 3-1 at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.

Keuka College (8-12) got a strong game from setter Alyssa Rex. The senior had a career-high nine kills to go with 27 assists, seven digs and three aces. Lauren Moelbert led the Wolves with 10 kills and Emily Cottrell added 18 digs.

Nazareth College 3 at Keuka College 1 – 25-13, 29-27, 27-29, 25-16

Nazareth College took an early 1-0 lead in the match, winning the first set 25-13. The Golden Flyers had 13 kills in the set while the Wolves finished with only five.

The second set had multiple lead changes early on. Nazareth would go on a run to take a 16-10 lead over the Wolves. Keuka College would fight back and stave off a set point with a kill by Alyssa Rex. Keuka would survive three more set points to extend the set, but the Golden Flyers got an ace to win the second 29-27.

Keuka College took the early lead in the third and stretched that to nine at 15-6 following a Lauren Moelbert kill. Nazareth would recover and use runs to get back in the set. They would tie the set at 23-23. It would be Keuka would have multiple set points and Nazareth extending the set. The Green and Gold would close it out with an ace by Kelsie Allen to win the third 29-27 and extend the match.

The Golden Flyers would close out the set in the fourth set. Nazareth had 13 kills in the frame as the won the fourth 25-16 to win the match 3-1.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will hit the road this weekend for a tough conference test. Keuka College will play in a North Eastern Athletic Conference Crossover at Lancaster Bible College. The Wolves will face the host Chargers in the first match and then square off with Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon.
