GANSEVOORT, NY. — Senior outside hitter Lauren Moelbert was named the Offensive Player of the Week for women's volleyball on Monday by the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
In her first week of action for the 2018 season, senior Lauren Moelbert turned in multiple phenomenal performances. The week started with averaging over four kills per set in Keuka College's loss to St. John Fisher. The senior helped lead Keuka to a 4-0 weekend, sweeping the Keuka College Invitational.
Moelbert began the tournament with nine kills and a .300 hitting percentage in a straight set victory over Alfred State. She then tied her career-high with 19 kills against Hartwick College as the Wolves defeated the Hawks in five. Saturday began with a repeat of Friday night. Moelbert had a career-high tying 19 kills in a five-set win over SUNY Canton. She finished the tournament with six kills against just two errors as the Wolves swept Hilbert, going 4-0 in the tournament.
Lauren Moelbert currently ranks second in the NEAC with 3.67 kills per set and fifth with 66 total kills. With her total from the week, Moelbert also surpassed 600 kills in her career.
Keuka College will open North Eastern Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of mid-week games. The slate opens on Tuesday night as the Wolves host Wells College at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. The Green and Gold will then be on the road on Wednesday, traveling to SUNY Cobleskill to face the Fighting Tigers.
