KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team won twice on Saturday to go a perfect 4-0 to win the Keuka College Invitational at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Keuka College (4-5) won the opening match of the day in five sets against SUNY Canton. The Wolves then closed the day with a straight set victory over Hilbert College.
Keuka College 3 vs. SUNY Canton 2 – 25-22, 13-25, 18-25, 25-16, 15-12
The Wolves took an early lead over SUNY Canton and would extend it to five points at 17-11. The Roos would fight back, but Keuka regained their five-point margin at 24-19. Canton extended the set with three points, but a service error would give the Wolves a 25-22 first set victory.
It would be SUNY Canton who took the early lead in the second set. The Roos built a double-digit lead and leveled the match, winning the set 25-13.
The Roos continued the momentum and once again built a double-digit lead. Keuka would narrow the margin late with four straight points, the SUNY Canton won the set 25-18, taking a 2-1 lead in the match.
Keuka College took an early lead in the fourth set, but SUNY Canton scored five straight to take a 10-9 lead. The Wolves regained the advantage with four straight of their own. Keuka College scored the final six points of the frame with Lauren Moelbert recording back-to-back kills to give the Wolves a 25-16 victory, sending the match to a fifth set.
The deciding set would be tight. Tied at 8-8, Keuka College got three straight kills to take an 11-8 lead. Leading 14-12, Lauren Moelbert got the kill for the Wolves, winning the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.
Lead Wolf: For the second straight match, Lauren Moelbert had 19 kills for the Green and Gold, once again tying her career-high.
Keuka College 3 vs. Hilbert College 3 – 25-23, 25-14, 25-15
The first set was played in runs between the Wolves and the Hawks. Hilbert scored five straight to take a 13-11 lead. They would grow their lead to four at 18-14, but Keuka College responded with seven straight to take a 21-18 lead. The Wolves would pull out a 25-23 first set victory.
The Wolves took an early lead in the second set, holding an 11-3 advantage. Keuka remained in control for the set, taking the second 25-14 and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Once again, the Green and Gold build an early lead, scored 11 of the first 15 points. The set was never in danger as the Wolves closed out the Hawks, winning the third set 25-15.
Lead Wolf: Libero Emily Cottrell had a strong game for Keuka College. The senior led the Wolves with 14 digs and served a match-high five aces for Keuka College.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves remain at home this Tuesday to open North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Keuka College hosts Wells College on September 11 in a 7pm match at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. The Express have won the last four meetings, but Keuka remains in the lead of the all-time series 6-5.
