KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team lost their first match of the day against D'Youville College and fell again in the nightcap to Hartwick College on Friday night.
Keuka College (0-2, 0-0 NEAC) was led by Alyssa Rex who had 37 assists and 15 digs on the day. Emily Cottrell added 22 digs and three assists and Jadine Buddingh chipped in 18 digs and 10 kills. Lauren Moelbert had 12 kills and nine digs for the Wolves.
Keuka College 1 (20, 27, 15, 23) vs. D'Youville College 3 (25, 25, 25, 25)
In the first set D'Youville would push to a 14-9 lead before Keuka College fought their way to tie the score at 18-18. D'Youville College would go on to win the first set 25-20. D'Youville jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the second set, but again the Wolves fought back once again to bring the score even at 19-19. The Wolves would complete the comeback and win the second set 27-25, leveling the match at 1-1. In a back and forth third set, D'Youville would gain a slight edge on the Wolves with a 17-11 lead. The Spartans would ride this lead to a 25-15 set win and take a two sets to one lead over Keuka College. D'Youville would win the fourth set 25-23 and the match 3-1.
Lead Wolves: Alyssa Rex finished Keuka College's first match of the evening with 22 assists and seven digs. Lauren Moelbert had a team high nine kills and Emily Cottrell had the team-high in digs with 20.
Keuka College 0 (15, 25, 14) vs. Hartwick College 3 (25, 27, 25)
After a slow start in the first set, Hartwick rallied to a 25-15 first set win. The second set was back and forth the whole way through, however Hartwick came out on top 27-25. In the third and final set of the night Hartwick, jumped out to a 14-5 lead. The Hawks capped their 3-set victory of the Wolves with a 25-41 third set win.
- Even with the loss, Keuka still owns the all-time series lead over D'Youville College 26-11
- The series with Hartwick College is closer, but the Wolves still have the advantage 8-5
- The Wolves have now lost four straight season-opening matches
Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves play two more games on Saturday as a part of the season-opening Keuka College Invitational. Keuka will host Chatham University at 11am and then face Hilbert College at 3pm at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
