GANSEVOORT, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Soccer team had five players named to the All-Conference Teams for the North Eastern Athletic Conference, with two players and Head Coach Jessica Shufelt earning individual awards.
Freshmen Renee Vito and Jessica Pegg earned First Team All-Conference and received individual awards as well. Vito was named NEAC Defensive Player of the Year while Pegg earned NEAC Rookie of the Year honors. They joined Jessica Shufelt, who won Coach of the Year, as individual award winners.
Renee Vito became the first Keuka College player since Kristi Chamberlain in 2004 to be named the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year. The freshman started all 16 games for the Keuka College defense. She helped anchor a back line that allowed just 12 goals this season and currently sit on a 12-game unbeaten streak.
Aiding in the defensive efforts for Keuka College was goalkeeper Jessica Pegg. Pegg started every game in goal for Keuka College, posting a 12-3-1 record. Her 12 wins ties the school record for wins in a season. She also ranks in the top ten in program history in goals against average, save percentage, and shutouts. Jessica Pegg joins teammate Emily McGuigan as the only two Keuka College Women's Soccer players to earn North Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year.
For the third straight season, Emily McGuigan was named First Team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference. The junior remained as one of the top goal scoring threats in the league as she has 18 goals and 42 total points this season, both ranking third in the NEAC. Earlier this season, McGuigan passed Nicole Bondellio for second on the career goals list at Keuka College. She has scored 52 goals in her career and sits just four goals shy of the record set by Nicole Sharick in 2012.
A pair of freshman were named Second Team All-Conference for the Wolves. Abby Richards patrolled the midfield for the Wolves, adding a goal and two assists on the season. Also named to the second team was Julia Oglesby. The freshman scored 10 goals and added four assists for Keuka College. Since the 2011 season, Oglesby had the third best scoring output by a freshman for Keuka College.
Leading the Wolves to their first regular season title since 2008 was Jessica Shufelt. The coach helped guide the Wolves to a program record 10-game winning streak and 12-game unbeaten streak. Her strength as a coach has also been seen on the recruiting trail as four of the five players named all-conference from Keuka College were freshmen.
Keuka College earned the right to host the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship due to their regular season title. The Wolves will host Cazenovia College in the semi-finals at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday, November 3. Kickoff between the Wolves and the Wildcats is set for 11:30am.
