MARCY, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Soccer team lost on Tuesday at SUNY Poly by the score of 3-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament to end their 2016 season.
Keuka College finished the season with a 9-8-1 record. It is the third straight season to end in the first round of the conference tournament for the Wolves.
SUNY Poly struck first against the Wolves less than 10 minutes into the game. A through ball got the Wildcats an open shot and buried it in the right side for the early 1-0 lead. The Wolves would draw the game level with just under 15 minutes left in the first half. Emily McGuigan slid a ball past the SUNY Poly defense and found Mckenna Pettit for the goal. As it looked like the game was going to halftime tied, SUNY Poly struck in the 41st minute. They got a lucky bounce off the post and into the Keuka net for a 2-1 lead.
2:33 into the second half, the Wildcats added to their lead, making it 3-1. Keuka turned up the offensive pressure in an attempt to get back into the game. Overall in the game, Keuka held a 16-10 shot advantage. Angela Bartlett made 10 saves in goal for SUNY Poly. In the 57th minute, it appeared that Keuka got one back. Sarah Hartman found herself alone in the box. She went for the far post, but Bartlett made a diving deflection for SUNY Poly. The ball bounced off the post and back to Bartlett for the save. SUNY Poly would keep Keuka off the board in the second half as they continued onto the 3-1 victory.
