KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Soccer team ended the regular season with a win on Saturday, defeating Cazenovia College 2-0 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference match.
Keuka College (9-7-1, 8-4-1 NEAC) will now wait for the official pairings to be released by the conference to see when and where they will play the first round of the conference tournament.
Freshman Emily McGuigan provided Keuka College with their offense on Saturday afternoon. The freshman scored a pair of goals, giving her 19 on the season, currently leading the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Talia Cruz made a pair of saves to earn the shutout.
Keuka College and Cazenovia College played a physical first half. The Green and Gold controlled most of the possession, outshooting the Wildcats 7-2 in the half. Each team only managed one shot on goal, however, as the game was scoreless at the break.
The Green and Gold struck quickly in the second half. Off of a goal kick by Cazenovia, Emily McGuigan won the ball and beat the keeper for the 1-0 lead in the 48th minute. Three minutes later, McGuigan was left loose on the edge of the goal box on the left side. She sent a right footed shot to the far corner, over the goalie, to give the Wolves a 2-0 lead. Keuka College would hold Cazenovia to only one shot in the half as the Wolves won on Senior Day 2-0.
