Keuka College and Penn St.-Abington Play to 1-1 Draw

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Soccer team played Penn St.-Abington to a 1-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference draw on Saturday afternoon.

Keuka College (8-7-1, 7-4-1 NEAC) earned the one point needed to qualify for the conference tournament. The Wolves will conclude their regular season schedule next Saturday as they host Cazenovia College at 1pm.

Nicole Browe scored for the Wolves with Janelle Bartlett earning the assist. Talia Cruz made four saves in goal for Keuka.

Penn St.-Abington was able to get early shots, but none of them found the goal. The Wolves flipped the field with offensive pressure of their own. In the 18th minute, Janelle Bartlett won a ball and sent a cross from the right side to the middle of the field. She found the foot of Nicole Browe who shed her defender and beat the goalie for the 1-0 lead. The game would swing back and forth with neither team earning a quality attempt as it went to halftime with the Wolves holding a 1-0 advantage.

Keuka College came out of the halftime break looking to put the game away. They had early chances but were unable to get any on goal. Against the run, Penn St.-Abington drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick. The Nittany Lions converted to draw the game level at 1-1 in the 65th minute. The two teams would play out the full 90 minutes with the game still tied at 1-1.

The Nittany Lions attacked and played on the front foot for most of the first overtime period. Their best chance came off of a corner kick. The ball swung in and was headed at goal, but Cruz was there for the save.

Once again, Cruz came up big in the second overtime period. The sophomore keeper made a big save halfway through the second period as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw.
