ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Soccer team lost on Wednesday night at the University of Rochester by the score of 6-1.
Keuka College (7-7, 6-4 NEAC) will return home on this weekend for a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference matches. The Wolves will host Bryn Athyn on Saturday and Penn St.-Abington on Sunday.
The Wolves played most of the first half on the defensive side of midfield. Rochester controlled possess but the Keuka defense held in the opening part of the half. The Wolves were able to get some pressure on the counterattack with the speed of forwards Emily McGuigan and Nicole Browe¸ but Keuka was unable to get a shot in the half. The Yellowjackets broke through in the 16th minute to make it 1-0. Rochester added two more goals in the half and took a 3-0 advantage into the halftime break.
Rochester quickly scored 2:33 into the second half to increase their lead to 4-0. The Green and Gold was able to generate some offense pressure in the minutes following. Jordan Fredell let a shot go from the right side of the box. The attempt was saved but marked Keuka's first shot on goal in the game. The Yellowjackets increased their lead to 6-0, but Keuka got on the board in the 84th minute. 23 seconds after Rochester scored, Emily McGuigan took the ball down the middle of the field. She sent a through ball past a pair of defenders to a cutting Browe. She beat the Rochester keeper to make it 6-1. The game would end by that scoreline with the Yellowjackets defeating the Wolves.
