ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Soccer team lost to hosts Hartwick College 2-1 on Saturday in the first game of the Erinn K. Brozman Cup.
The Wolves (0-2) will take on Purchase College on Sunday in Oneonta.
The Hawks controlled the play for most of the first half. They outshot the Wolves 17-2 in the half and had six corner kicks to Keuka's none. Neither of Keuka's shots were on goal. Hartwick broke through in the 24th minute, scoring to take a 1-0 lead. Talia Cruz made seven saves in the half to keep the game at 1-0 at halftime.
Hartwick maintained possession in the second half, but the Wolves tied it up in the 59th minute. Allison Ariola found Brooke Guernsey, who beat the keeper to level the game at 1-1. Hartwick continued their attack with 17 shots in the second half as well. One of those shots would be deflected in for a goal in the 67th minute for the deciding goal as Hartwick defeated Keuka 2-1.
