ALFRED, N.Y. – A pair of second half goals lifted the host Saxons of Alfred University 2-1 over Keuka College in both team's season openers on Thursday night.

The Wolves (0-1) next travel to Oneonta, N.Y. and Hartwick College to play in the Erinn K. Brozman Cup. The Green and Gold will face the host Hawks on Saturday, followed by Purchase College on Sunday.

Abbey David scored the lone goal for Keuka off of a corner kick. Sarah Hartman got the assist. Sophomore Talia Cruz made 10 saves in goal in her first collegiate start as a goalkeeper.

Alfred controlled most of the play in the first half. They outshot Keuka 8-4 and had eight corner kicks compared of the Wolves' one. Cruz made five saves in goal and all four of Keuka's shots were saved as the two teams went to halftime scoreless.

After a couple of early saves by Talia Cruz, Keuka got a chance to score in the 51st minute. A penalty kick was awarded to the Green and Gold. The shot to the lower right corner was pushed aside. On the ensuing corner kick, however, Abbey David found the back of the net to give the Wolves the 1-0 advantage. The Saxons responded 49 seconds later off of a corner kick of their own to level the game. Alfred would take the lead minutes later and hold Keuka without a shot for the rest of the game on their way to the 2-1 victory.
