Women's Soccer Falls at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Soccer team dropped their season opening match to 25thranked Ithaca College by the score of 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

It was the first game of the season for both squads. Carly Sanford scored the lone goal for Keuka. The assist went to Nicole Browe. Kenna Kosinski made 10 saves in net for Keuka.

Keuka (0-1) will be back in action this weekend as they travel to SUNY Potsdam to compete in the Potsdam College Cup. The Green and Gold will face the host Bears on Saturday and then square off against Sage College on Sunday.

Ithaca (1-0) controlled most of the play in the first half. The Bombers threatened early on a cross into the box in the 5th minute, but junior goalkeeper Kenna Kosinski made a diving save to keep the game scoreless. Ithaca would break through, however, minutes later. They would then add to their lead off of a corner kick in the 21st minute. Ithaca added to their lead and carried a 4-0 advantage into halftime.

The second half began with Ithaca finding the back of the net 50 seconds in. However Keuka was able to respond. Nicole Browe found Carly Sanford for the first goal of the season in the 50th minute. Ithaca had an answer of their own to regain the five goal margin on their way to the 6-1 victory.
