Tsarevich Scores Eight in Keuka College Victory

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Keuka College junior Vanessa Tsarevich scored a career-high eight goals as the Wolves defeated Penn St.-Abington in the first round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Tsarevich finished the game with nine total points for Keuka College (13-1). Kendall Neuberger scored four goals for the Wolves. Adding three goals apiece was freshmen MaKayla Mesec and Brenna Voigt.

Keuka College 23 vs. Penn St.-Abington 8 – NEAC Tournament – First Round

Keuka College got out to a fast lead as the Wolves held a 4-0 advantage just two minutes and 39 seconds into the game. Following a Nittany Lion timeout, Penn St.-Abington scored a pair of goals to cut into the margin. The Wolves responded with three goals with Tsarevich, Neuberger, and Voigt all scoing on free position shots. Overall in the first half, Keuka College was 6-6 on free position shots. Keuka held Abington to just five clears in 14 attempts. The Wolves led the Nittany Lions 14-7 at the half.

The Wolves scored the first for goals on the second half as Keuka College opened a, 18-7 lead. Following a Nittany Lions goal halfway through the half, Keuka College closed the game with five unanswered goals as the Wolves advanced in the NEAC Tournament with a 23-8 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves advance to the semi-finals of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament. Keuka College will face Medaille College on Saturday at Morrisville State College. The Mavericks delivered Keuka College their lone loss on the season last Saturday.
