Keuka College Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Mt. St. Mary 8-5

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team lost on Saturday at Mount Saint Mary College by the score of 8-5 in a non-conference game.

Kendall Neuberger led Keuka College (0-2) with a pair of goals in the loss. Also scoring for Keuka was Vera Freda, Brooke Main, and Morgan Bruno. Making nine saves in goal for the Wolves was Ally Thayer.

The Knights scored the first goal of the game, but Keuka College quickly responded. Vera Freda found the back of the net to tie the game and Brooke Main scored her first career goal to give Keuka College a 2-1 lead halfway through the first. Mt. St. Mary put together a late run. They outscored Keuka College 4-1 over the final eight minutes of the first half to lead 5-3 at the break. In the second half, Kendall Neuberger scored for Keuka to make it a one-goal game. The Knights regained a two-goal margin with 13 minutes left to play, but Neuberger struck again. The sophomore netted her second goal just 31 seconds after Mt. St. Mary scored. The Knights did the same however. They scored less than a minute after Neuberger's second tally and added a late insurance goal on their way to the 8-5 victory.

KC Notes:

  • Saturday was the first ever meeting between Mount Saint Mary College and Keuka College in Women's Lacrosse
  • Sophomore Ally Thayer added to her career save total on Saturday. She now has 157 in her career, passing Kristi Chamberlain '07 for third place in program history
  • Morgan Bruno's goal gave the senior her 126th career point for the Green and Gold. She breaks a tie with Olivia Hudson '15 and moves into 8th all-time

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves return home to the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Thursday, March 30 to host D'Youville College at 4:30pm. It is the first season for the D'Youville College Women's Lacrosse team.
