Women’s Lacrosse Ends Season with a Victory

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team defeated Wells College 21-6 on Saturday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex in their final game of the 2016 season.

Keuka College (6-9, 4-5 NEAC) finished in a tie for the fifth and final playoff spot in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament but they lost the tiebreaker with Lancaster Bible College.

Playing in the final game of her Keuka College career, Samantha Staino set a new career-high with seven goals on the afternoon. It is tied for the second most ever in a game in school history. Also tying the record was Sydney Forshay. She finished with seven goals on the afternoon as well. Setting up the offense was junior Morgan Bruno. She had eight assists on the afternoon, tying the Keuka College Single Game Record. She added a goal for nine total points, tied for fourth most in a game in school history.

Freshman Kendall Neuberger added four goals and an assist for Keuka College. Rounding out the scoring for the Green and Gold was Vanessa Tsarevich and Elizabeth Sherman.

Keuka College got out to a fast start and never looked back against the Express. Morgan Bruno scored the first goal of the game 35 seconds in. It sparked an 8-0 run for Keuka College. Wells got on the board with 10 minutes left in the first half, but Keuka scored the final five goals of the half and led 14-3 at the break.

The Green and Gold continued to grow the lead in the second with Tsarevich and Staino scoring in the opening minutes. Keuka College remained ahead for the duration of the afternoon. Staino capped the game and her Keuka College career with the final goal of the game as Keuka defeated Wells College 21-6.
