Senior Jennifer Burt (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) scored three first half goals and finished with four goals and an assist as the Keuka College women's lacrosse team won its 2015 season opener 17-6 against Alfred University on a chilly Tuesday night at Alfred, N.Y.

Sophomore Sydney Forshay (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) added two goals with three assists in the first half, senior Olivia Hudson (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) scored four goals as the Wolfpack (1-0) prevailed in the first game under head coach Eryn McCaffrey.

Keuka held Alfred (0-1) scoreless for more than 26 minutes spanning both halves to cement the win.

Senior Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) scored three goals, while sophomore Morgan Bruno (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) added two goals with two assists for the Green and Gold.

Junior Samantha Staino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and sophomore Maura Gosson (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) each added goals for Keuka, which enjoyed a 20-10 edge in shots on goal.

Sophomore Kayla Robinson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) made four saves to earn the win in her collegiate debut.

Kaitlyn Button's first of two first-half goals staked the Saxons to a 1-0 lead just 1:33 into the game.

Forshay knotted the score with an unassisted tally one minute later to spark the Green and Gold on a 4-0 run over a six-minute span.

Burt scored unassisted, Forshay found Bruno for a goal, and Forshay scored unassisted for a 4-1 lead with 20:31 remaining in the opening half.

Button's second goal sliced the Keuka lead to 4-2, but the Wolfpack clamped down and held the Saxons scoreless for the final 20:02 of the first half.

Forshay found Hudson for a three-goal lead with 16:47 left in the first, and Burt scored back-to-back goals, including a free position tally, for a 7-2 lead with 6:31 remaining.

Maguire and Hudson each scored goals down the stretch to send the Wolfpack into halftime leading 9-2.

Bruno and Hudson each scored goals in the opening minutes of the second, as the Green and Gold led 11-2 4:50 into the second half.

Alfred was held without a goal for 26:41 bridging both halves until scored Miranda Gilbert found the back of the net 6:39 into the second.

The Saxons closed within 11-4 on a tally from Button, her third of the game, but Burt scored on a free position shot and Gosson added a goal for a 13-4 lead.

Bruno and Hudson each scored and Maguire added consecutive goals, including a man-up score, as the Wolfpack took a 17-6 lead.

Keuka hosts the College of St. Elizabeth (N.J.) at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Wolfpack's conference opener.

The Green and Gold have won the North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) postseason title in five of the last six years.

The Wolfpack, who went 16-3 and set a school record for single-season wins in 2014, have earned a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament in each of the last two seasons.
